Someome is impersonating me on myspace?

i just found out that someone is impersonating me on myspace.

my page and the fake page look almost exactly the same.

there's no inappropriate content in the fake page but i really don't know what to do.

i sent an email to myspace customer care about it but i'm wondering if i should talk to a police about this.

is this illegal? what would happen if the person who made this fake page lived in a foreign coutry?

Yes, this is illegal, as it is technically identity fraud. If myspace do not remove the page within what you would class as a reasonable length of time, you should consider contacting your local authorities.

I wouldn't take it quite that far if no harm has been done. Just report them to MySpace and get the page removed... they could also be banned by IP so they can't create another account.

You made the right choice with contacting Myspace.

It, however, is not a police matter as they have done nothing wrong with your information.

Be sure to be on the look out though with your credit cards and other personal information.

And try to watch what you put on your page or how much information you share with other's on the web.

That's terrible. I found someone with my very unusual name- first and last. I found a number for them and called it, stating that I have this name. The person who answered said "Oh sh**!" and hung up. I called the police and they said it wasn't against the law unless this person was committing crimes or ruining my credit. Hmmm. Obviously they were doing something wrong, but there isn't anything I can do. Still, I advise you to go to the police and alert ALL your myspace friends. Have your friends check out this person and maybe even bash them.

I would write down all of your friends myspace and delete your account. Then make a new account and add your friends to it. Whoever it is is phishing your account. That is how you get viruses. Trust me I just spent $150 getting rid of the "Trojan" virus because of myspace.
