I have been told that before I get my MySpace account, I must learn how to spot the fake MySpace , that phishes people's email address and passwords.
Does anyone know the easiest way to spot the fake MySpace website?
Very easy. Look at your address bar, and you will see very clearly "login.myspace.com".
If you see ANYTHING else, you're being phished.

The first answer was a good one, you should always read the address bar carefully.
Another thing to look for is the little yellow padlock in the bottom right corner of your screen. Usually a secure login has this. A fake one can have them too, so be warned. But often it is hard for them to copy the padlock exactly, so if it doesn't look right, exit.
Another thing you should do is download Firefox if you are currently using Internet Explorer. It's much faster and more secure, and you can turn on a 'phishing filter' which alerts you to dubious websites. I think that the latest version of I.E. has this feature too.

Go to www.myspace.com. If that's what appears in the taskbar that's what it is. Just that no more. if there is a bunch of other stuff in there like gobllygookmyspace.com or even mymyspace.com or anything like that don't go there. It is a different url.
