I heard this story a few days ago. Basically there were these two girls who were once friends. Then this one girl started being mean to this other girl. So the parents of the girl who was being bullied created this fake myspace account with pictures %26amp; everything saying that they were a thirteen year old boy. This "boy" and the girl who was bulling the other started dating online. then, the boy began harassing her, teasing her ect. Well, the girl originally bullying the other commited suicide.

Do you think the parents should be held responsible for her death? Or did they even do anything illeagal. this is such a tragic story %26amp; I'm sure alot of debate will emerge from it.

I was curious to hear what people think should be done to these parents.

It's hard to believe that adults would do this to a child. There were probably other problems in the girl's life that led to her bullying and eventual suicide. However, I do think that the parents who impersonated the boy should be charged in some manner, at the very least for harassment.

That's awful however to punish the parents one must prove they knew exactly what was going on and that they intended for something like this to happen. I'm not aware of the full details so one must get to bottom of it. Although I believe without a question parents should be aware of what their child is doing online, it's impossible when sites like myspace exist and it's so easy for a child to obtain an account. So this being said should myspace be liable also

If the girl who died wasn't so young and naive but was older and mature enough to make sense of her world then this story would be kind of like cruel justice. But because this girl was so young it's just a tragedy. Those parents are ****** up in the head for doing that to an innocent girl - she's only 13! like those parents never made mistakes when they were younger?!?! I think the lesson here is that an eye for an eye is never a good idea.

But anyways, the parents can't be convicted unless they gave the girl who committed suicide the thing that she did herself in with. A good lawyer could convince a jury of this, so.... you never know. But then again, the girl had suicidal tendencies before the get-go so a good defense lawyer would be able to work that to his advantage.

Wow I never knew that parents could be so low and do that. I think the parents should be held responsible. That is so mean although no one should bully anyone. But I never thought any parents would do that. Any way they aren't teaching their kids anything but stupidity. They should actually pay attention and not be so stupid. And if the girl wanted the other girl to stop bullying her then the parents should of talked with the other girls parents to stop this from happening but nothing anymore really happens like that I guess...

wow i think the parents took it WAY to far. i think we SHOULD blame the parents but FIRST do we even know thats why the girl committed suicide to begin with? the girl who was being bullied didnt even deserve to be tricked like that anyways- but she did deserve something like being grounded or going to counseling. the parents shouldve stayed out of it too. unless the girl was being physically bullied its between those two girls to resolve thier problems. i think what the parents deserve is to see if they were the reason the other girl committed suicide before anything legally happens. i mean the girl was a bully for a reason. she was probably having trouble at home or not doing so well socially or physically. teenage girls tend to think very low of themselves thats way they talk about how others don't look good or that someones clothes don't match to boost THEIR confidence level. so the parents definitely should be investigated before they get punished. talk to the girls parents and look for any signs of notes that the girl written like a diary o some sort.

I can't believe these parents would act so immature ... harrasing a little girl. There were so many other ways they could've handled the situation. That childish act may not have caused the girl to commit suicide but it sure contributed to her state of mind. Sounds to me like the parents need a good spanking for acting so childishly. And a formal apology to start off with...to the parents who lost their child.

Honestly, this doesn't sound like a true story. But if it were:

I'd say the parents sound very weird. They used bad judgment, yes. They should be ashamed of themselves. But they're not responsible for the death, unless they deliberately and knowingly tried to get the girl to kill herself.

It is my understanding that the girl who committed suicide was not bullying the other girl, but that their friendship ended when she (the one who died) became clinically depressed.

Apparently the parents were incensed that the girl no longer wanted to be friends with their daughter and set up the fake site to harass her.

Although many people believe those adults are responsible for her death, apparently the parents of the dead girl won't press charges.

As far as punishment, I feel that they are unfit to be parents and that their own child(ren) should be taken from them and raised by more suitable people. If my child had committed suicide in such circumstances I would want severe penalties for them - at least several years in jail for their despicable act.

However, unless the dead girl's parents change their minds or there is some other way to charge them with a crime, I guess they will be free to do the same thing to anyone else they dislike.

(Just one more proof that on-line dating is a BAD idea.)

From what I read it was actually the "bullied" girl's mother who created the MySpace account. And "bully" is in quotes because I don't quite believe the story that the girl who committed suicide was a bully. Bullies aren't big on committing suicide. I think it's a terrible situation. Even though I doubt anyone meant for the girl to die, it is still a horrible thing. Yes, the mother should definitely be held responsible for involuntary manslaughter or negligent homicide or SOMETHING.
