It is obvious to me that everyone that's answered this question so far (besides "chica" %26amp; jessicadamours, %26amp; canadianphatkid), is either a teenager, or have no children yet. Parents are parents-not friends to our children. We have the right and responsibility to "spy" on our children-even the most well behaved and trustworthy.

By the way, this is her job. It's a parent's job to keep an eye on his/her kid. hasn't anybody been listening to the news. This is where we find info on predators, drugs, you name it.

I would rather have a kid that hates me than a dead kid, because the kid will eventually come to understand, where a dead kid can't.

When you have to spy on your kid to get info out of them, what do you think is going to happen in the long run... Kids remember these things and they will learn not to trust you at all, and just want to leave the house sooner... And when they feel violated by being spied on, when they do finally move out... How good is your relationship with them really going to be? You can't think too much on the now, because they are growing up fast. What about the future?

when used correctly myspace is a great took for e-mail, i-m and keeping in touch with friends, you should just moniter her, not ban it all together. just because you say no, might make her want to sneak around and make another one at a friends house or something like that, teens will find a way around parents.

and if you still cant do that dont tell them you have been spying on them or they will just hate even more than they already do and rebel and learn how to keep secrets from you better.

i read somewhere that if a kid knows thier parents dont trust them, they are more likly to rebel and even have sex.

i would be a little more secretive about spying on my kids if i were you.

This hurts alot but from reading what people said I have to say something.

When I was 15 me and my girlfriend was in a dating site. We was acting like 18 year olds and was going to meet some college boys. Well my father did spy on me at work (I didn't know) And when he came home I got in a world of trouble well little did he relize that my best frined was going to and though even though I wasn't allowed to go my girlfriend still went and met them at the park. I couldn't get a hold of her. And now well shes dead. It took 4 months to find her body. At the bottom of the lake. It turned out to be a 40 year old man that met us... So please don't ever stop. I hated my dad for months but know I thank him becuse that could of been me. And it is my fault that my best friend is dead.

I agree its a good idea to keep a watch on the kids on the computer but I have a 15 year old son and we TALK- COMMUNICATE- and I give him my trust. If he needs me he KNOWS he can come to me. I have raised him to the best of my ability and now I can only pray I have given him good values and good morals. YOU cannot protect her from herslef! Especially if she does not live in your home!
