she lives with her dad so i can't do anything involving her password, but i'm concerned for her safety. she has her first and last name on there so that people can look her up. i asked her to delete it but she said she wouldnt because she wants her friends to be able to find her and add her. i told her that stalkers could find her on there too, but she doesn't care, and i've talked to her dad about this but he wont to anything about it. i am to the point where im almost about to make a fake myspace as a "stalker" to get her to delete her first and last name from there. i'm very concerned for her safety. do you think that making a fake "stalker" myspace would actually work? i have no other ideas to make her take her name off. =(

This way, you'll have easier access to her other myspace friends and her blog. This will make you seem like you're joining her, but, it gives you a better way of keeping an eye on her. Other than that, you have to let her explore and since you don't have custody you can't threaten myspace or anything. Her father is the one who is legally responsible for her safety so his decision is the only one that will matter in court.

Have you ever thought of creating your own myspace account and making her add you as a friend. That way you could at least see who she is "saying" she saves as friends, comments, bulletins, etc. Not to mention, while it isn't fool proof...you can tell her to set her profile to private so only people on her friends page can see her info.
Not saying you should appease her, but I am thinking she might just go right behind and you create another one. Get involved with her online experiences and talk to her about the dangers out there. Just talk to her about it.....heck talk to her on MySpace.

You should try the "fake stalker" idea that way it might scare her to the point where she might do what you want her to do. From what you are saying it looks like the only way that might work is for her to get scared. You can also try to talk to Tom the creater of myspace and maybe he can do something to help you. If you can get her e-mail or password then you can do that yourself and I don't think that she will know that you did that. Good luck.

Its a requirement for me. If they don't want to give me their password I'll cancel their account.All ya gotta do is contact My Space. They will walk you thru how to delete her account. Why don't you just monitor her My Space account? You can. Just get your own My Space account and have her make you a buddy on her list. That way you can see who it is exactly she is talking to and who is trying to contact her. She is the one who decides who her friends(buddies) are. If you don't care for this person or that one have her delete them from her buddy list. If you have your own account its a great way to keep updated on her likes and dislikes.
I tried to make it hard on my kids but when I finally got on My Space and figured it out... I like the insight it gives me about my kids. You might be pleasantly surprised. If you don't know how to start a My Space account just go to the web site and it'll walk you Thur it.

Ask her to edit her profile and delete all personal info. like the town she lives in.
If she doesn't comply, talk to her dad again and tell him the dangers of myspace. If he doesn't care then I would find a lawyer b/c he is not fit as a father.
One of you should have her password as well and check up on her every now and then. If she won't give it to you then I would have the site blocked. B/c she may be hiding something.
As for the fake stalker... it's not a bad idea to see her reaction to a stranger wanting to be her friend. If you do this, just make sure she can't trace it back to you. When you set up an account they ask for your name and if she is "finding a friend" and types in your name... You're caught. My suggestion is have a friend of yours do it.
My personal opinion on myspace.com is that it is and should be used by adults only b/c of the risks. I am 26 and love to catch up w/ old friends from high school that I would have never talked to again if it wasn't for myspace. Why do kids need this freedom to talk to total strangers? That what a telephone is for! Kids don't need to meet people that they don't go to school with. They have plenty of time for that later in life!
I need ways to get my 14 year old daugther to delete her name off of myspace? im honestly not sure theres anything you can do about it. to us, myspace is a source to find youre old friends (3 of my best friends from birth that i lost contact with got connected with me again), and a way to communicate with the new ones. alot of my friends have parents that made them delete theirs, but they just secretly made new ones. i think the best thing to do is let he keep it, ut constantly remind her to not have any personal information on the site. there are plenty of things that the user can to to make iut more private. like on mine, its a private profile, so only my firends can see it. you can even make it so if someone wants to request you as their friend, they need to know your last name/ email address. every once in a while, randomly check hers. that ways shes gonna make sure its always safe and appropriate for you to see. my mom lets me keep it, but she checks it every so often to see if its bad, constantly reminds me not to put up personal info, and to only accept people i know.

Tell her that you don't mind her on myspace but you want her to take her name off of it for her own safty. Also, change the settings so only her friends can see her profile. If you tell her to take it off she will just become oppositional. If you come to her angry or upset she will just be oppositional. Act interested what myspace is about and ask her to give you a tour of the site. Then ask her if you can see her page and see pictures of her friends. Then calmly explain to her that it is dangerous for anyone of any age to put their name on the internet or anywhere else and that there are problems w/identity theft and a persons safety (say it in that order). Just remember, don't get made b/c as soon as your tone of voice changes she will tune you out!

Also, if you have the name then they know her, but on the space itself it does not have her first and last name posted for all the world to see unless it's in a blog or on the main page. If you see it listed on the site, I believe that is an automatic violation of the terms of service and you can have it removed.
doing all this though will not prevent her from creating a new email address to start a new myspace site.
Do the parent control settings so they have to know their email address or last name before they can be added to someones friends, and no one can view the site unless they are a friend.
